When a vehicle runs off a Missouri highway and overturns for no apparent reason, authorities have the difficult task of establishing the cause of the accident. Piecing together bits of the evidence they have could certainly be a lengthy procedure. Such car accidents often have to be reconstructed in an attempt to figure out what happened.
On a recent Friday evening, a group of nine people from another state were northbound on I-57 when their car left the road on the left-hand side of the highway. The driver realized her mistake and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll over. Seven of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
The 51-year-old female driver, along with two passengers, suffered serious injuries. Three other occupants, including a 1-year-old child, were reported to have suffered moderate injuries, while one passenger suffered only minor injuries. Two men, ages 55 and 57, were killed in the rollover, and they were declared dead at the accident scene.
Missouri residents may be unaware that the drivers of vehicles that are involved in car accidents which cause death or injuries may be held civilly liable. The six injured parties in this accident likely have the right to file personal injury claims in a civil court. Likewise, the families of the deceased passengers may file wrongful death claims in an attempt to recover medical and end-of-life expenses brought about by the tragic accident. Help is available to ensure victims and families of the dead are awarded full and fair compensation to ease resulting financial difficulties.
