With so many drivers on the roadways, it is no surprise that accidents happen so frequently. A recent car accident has claimed the life of a 39-year-old Missouri resident. The cause of the accident is believed to be due to intoxicated driving. Though they can be easily prevented, car accident injuries and fatalities like this one occur regularly.
Reports stated that the accident took place in Wentzville, Missouri, in the early morning hours of Feb. 3, 2017. The victim was travelling on a local highway when he passed another vehicle. The woman driving the other vehicle then struck the victim’s truck from behind, forcing it off the left side of the road. His car then overturned, ultimately resulting in the man’s death.
Missouri Highway Patrol believe that the female driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. She was arrested at the scene based on this suspicion. Should the police find that she was under the influence, she may be convicted. She could then face fines, community service or possibly jail time.
In addition to the grief of losing a loved one due to car accident injuries, the victim’s family must also deal with the financial burden that comes with it. In an incident like this, they retain the right to file a wrongful death claim. If sufficient proof of negligence is provided and their claim is successful, they could then receive damages providing them with financial relief. This is true for any Missouri resident who has suffered the loss of a family member due to car accident injuries.
