Car accidents: Collision in Kirksville intersection injures 3

Missouri drivers are expected to obey the rules of the road at all times. The slightest errors by drivers can cause car accidents that can have devastating consequences. A recent crash that occurred in an intersection sent several people to the hospital, and it appears to have been caused by the negligence of one driver.

A police report indicates that the accident occurred in Kirksville on a recent Friday evening. It further states that an 83-year-old driver was traveling west on Illinois Street when he allegedly failed to yield at the intersection with U.S. Highway 63. A southbound driver on the highway entered the intersection at that time, and a collision could not be avoided.

There were several people in the two cars that were involved in this accident, and three of them suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital. The driver who failed to yield and his passenger were later transferred to another hospital. No charges were reported to have been filed, but this driver was cited for his failure to yield at the intersection.

Whenever car accidents are caused by the negligence of one of the drivers, those who suffered injuries have the right to pursue financial relief. Personal injury claims may be filed in a Missouri civil court. Before the court can award compensation, negligence must be established. If the court also establishes financial liability, it may award compensation for medical expenses, along with other documented financial and non-economical losses that were brought about by the accident.
