Regardless of the amount of care drivers take while driving on the busy Missouri roads, they will remain vulnerable to the actions of other drivers. Motorists can never be prepared for the danger of other vehicles unexpectedly crossing into their traffic lanes. It may be impossible to avoid such a vehicle, and if evasive action is taken, more car accidents may be caused.
Such a multi-car accident took the life of one driver and injured two on a recent Tuesday morning in South County. A preliminary accident report states that a 21-year-old driver who was traveling north on a local roadway allegedly veered left into the southbound lanes. A southbound driver could not avoid a collision and was struck head-on by the northbound car. The impact apparently sent the second car into another southbound vehicle.
The driver who crossed over the center line was killed in this accident. Both drivers of the other two vehicles that were involved were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. An accident investigation and reconstruction may determine the circumstances that led to this tragic accident.
When motorists suffer injuries that require medical treatment in car accidents on Missouri roads, they will have to face medical bills and other financial consequences. If they can prove that their injuries were the result of another party’s negligence, they may pursue compensation by filing personal injury claims in a civil court. In a case in which the driver who is deemed the negligent party died in the accident, his or her estate may be named as the defendant in the lawsuit.
