A car accident can cause life-altering or fatal injuries in an instant. Along with the trauma of losing a loved one, surviving family members are often left to cope with financial and emotional struggles in the aftermath of a fatality caused by car accident injuries. A Missouri family in St. Peters is likely experiencing such circumstances after a recent fatal car crash.
The police report of the accident indicates that it occurred on a recent Wednesday morning. A 68-year-old driver of a sedan reportedly came upon slow moving traffic that was caused by another wreck. The vehicle behind him was allegedly traveling at a high speed. Unfortunately, the trailing driver apparently failed to notice the car in front slowing down and smashed into the rear of it.
Officers reported that the driver whose vehicle was hit was complaining of pain. He was was rushed to a hospital. However, he succumbed to internal injuries. An accident reconstruction was planned in ordered to help determine exactly what occurred. No criminal charges had been filed at the time of the report.
Although no amount of compensation can replace the life of a loved one due to car accident injuries, a monetary judgment may ease the burden. Understandably, the victim’s surviving family members will follow the progress of any official investigation. They may file a wrongful death claim in a Missouri civil court. A financial award will be considered if the required proof of negligence is established before the court. All documented financial and emotional losses may be included in the claim filed.
