Fatal car accident injuries kills 2 children, injures 2 adults

A distracted driver may have been the cause of a multi-vehicle crash that occurred in Jackson County on a recent Monday. Two children suffered fatal car accident injuries in this horrific wreck. Officials said the accident happened in the early evening near Blue Springs. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was called to the crash scene on Interstate 70.

An accident report indicates that an SUV rear-ended the car of a Warrenton family. The impact reportedly pushed the family’s car into two additional vehicles. It is not clear whether the occupants of these two cars were injured, but the driver of the SUV apparently suffered only minor injuries.

Sadly, the occupants of the first car that was struck were not so lucky. Two adults suffered serious injuries, and they were rushed to a hospital. Two children, a 7-year-old girl, and a 13-year-old boy were killed. MSHP says the accident remains under investigation, and an official noted that some evidence suggested that alcohol may have played a role and that driver distraction may have contributed too.

The two adults who suffered car accident injuries in this crash may be the parents of the two children who lost their lives. They will retain the right to pursue financial relief for their own medical costs and financial losses; the parents of the children may also pursue claims for monetary damages due to the tragic deaths of the young victims. Personal injury and wrongful death claims may be filed in a Missouri civil court, and once negligence on the part of the other driver is established, all documented claims will be adjudicated before a monetary judgment can be entered.
