Fleeing suspect has auto accident, kills passenger in car he hit

There are a variety of reasons why an auto accident can happen in Missouri, but one of the most egregious and unnecessary is if a driver decides to flee from law enforcement. Not only is fleeing the police an unsatisfactory excuse for a crash, it is often done at high rates of speed exponentially increasing the chance for serious car accident injuries and fatalities. When there is an accident because of a driver trying to get away from law enforcement, victims have the right to seek compensation in a lawsuit.

A 19-year-old man was arrested for second degree murder and resisting arrest after he tried to escape an attempted stop by police and had a car crash. The man, driving a black Dodge Charger, was speeding at more than 90 miles per hour when the crash occurred. The initial stop was being made because the driver was speeding. Police were following the vehicle and trying to make the stop when the accident occurred. It happened when another car was turning. A passenger in the other vehicle died instantly and the driver was hospitalized. The man who fled had minor injuries and was arrested at the scene.

For people who are injured or lose a loved one in a car accident, the circumstances of the crash can be of paramount importance if they are considering filing a lawsuit. The aftereffects of a crash – the pain of losing a loved one, surgical procedures, hospitalization, rehabilitation and more – are worsened with the knowledge that it happened when someone was being reckless. Even though the driver might have been arrested for the behavior, the victims will still have the right to seek compensation in a lawsuit.

In this auto accident, a man was running away from police when he crashed into another vehicle, killing a passenger and injuring the driver. Although he was arrested, that is unlikely to satisfy the family of the man who died and the person who was injured. Their first call should be to a legal professional to discuss filing a lawsuit to be compensated for what happened.
