Missouri car accidents: Man killed after car stalled

Motor vehicle collisions are sometimes unavoidable. However, many car accidents are the result of negligent drivers. Either way, crashes that lead to fatalities are tragic. One Missouri man was killed and another was seriously injured in a recent interstate collision that happened late in the evening on April 15.

The wreck occurred as the two victims were outside of their vehicle. Their car had stalled on Interstate 44, and they were attempting to push it to the shoulder. Whether failing to see the stalled car or unable to stop in time, another driver struck one of the men and the car he was pushing. The stalled car then hit the second man. 

Sadly, first man who was hit was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The second man involved was taken to the hospital and was listed in serious condition. Authorities report that the driver of the car that hit the two victims suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

The victim who was injured may consider filing a personal injury claim in civil court against the driver of the vehicle that struck him. If his claim proves successful, he could then receive monetary damages to help pay for medical bills and any other expenses related to the crash. Likewise, the family of the victim who passed away may consider filing a wrongful death claim in a similar attempt to gain monetary damages to help pay for funeral costs and other financial losses.
