Missouri man found guilty after 1 of many 2012 DUI car accidents

For a Missouri family to lose a child as the result of a vehicle accident could cause long-lasting trauma. When a child is killed, it is usually much more difficult to accept than that of an aged person. High costs of medical care or funeral and burial costs often cause financial difficulties that often escalate the trauma. A 9-year-old boy was tragically killed in one of the car accidents that occurred just before Thanksgiving in 2012.

Following the accident, a 33-year-old man was recently found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, along with driving misdemeanors and assault charges. The blood alcohol level of the man, measured two hours after the accident, was reported to have been double the legal limit of 0.08. Apart from the young boy who died in the accident, the two adults and another child who were in the vehicle at the time of the accident sustained moderate injuries and were all treated in a hospital.

The accident happened on a Missouri highway when the westbound drunk driver’s truck veered across the center median, and his truck crashed head-on into the car of the other family. There was only one occupant in the truck. His sentencing was scheduled for the next day.

Car accidents can leave Missouri residents with serious injuries, and even loss of loved ones, in an instant. In this accident, the life lost was that of a child, but when adult lives are lost, families may have to manage without the income of the deceased. Facing high medical bills and final expenses related to death, can be financially devastating. To pursue monetary damages to help cover unexpected expenses brought about by an accident, families may seek the available assistance to guide them through the process.
