Being informed that a family member or loved one has been involved in an accident can be one of the most emotionally trying times that an individual will experience. Motor vehicle accidents that result in fatalities can create everlasting sorrow to anyone that was close to the victim. Unfortunately, many truck accidents in Missouri have been known to end in tragedy.
A recent wreck in Springfield between a pick up and a motorcycle resulted in the death of a 44-year-old man. The biker was unable to avoid the truck, which had suddenly pulled out onto the roadway in his path. Just before the crash, the driver of the pick up had allegedly proceeded through a stop sign without yielding.
The pick up driver was given a sobriety test before being taken to a local hospital with significant injuries. The motorcyclist and his passenger sustained serious injuries and were also transported to the hospital. Sadly, the 44-year old victim passed away the next day. While his life can never be brought back, there does appear to be enough evidence for the victim’s family to pursue legal measures to ease their pain and suffering.
The passenger of the motorcyclist could also benefit from a review of the evidence in conjunction with Missouri state laws. Both personal injury and wrongful death claims can be filed in a civil court when there is evidence suggesting that truck accidents were caused by the negligent actions of a motorist. Compensation gained from a successfully litigated lawsuit can help to cover medical expenses, rehabilitation and any lost wages. In cases involving a fatality, monetary relief can be sought to help cope with funeral and burial expenses as well as other damages permissible under our laws.
