Being cautious while driving should be a priority for all drivers. However, some motorists fail to pay attention to their surroundings and make roadways dangerous for their fellow drivers. Errant driving is a major factor in many serious car accidents. A recent collision allegedly caused by a negligent driver led to the death of a Missouri woman.
Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred between three vehicles. The big rig and the car that were involved were stopped on the interstate due to traffic. A driver in a pickup truck failed to stop and rear-ended the car. The force of the impact pushed the car into the semi ahead of it.
Though the details of their injuries were not specified, authorities stated that both the driver of the car and her passenger were seriously injured. They were taken to the hospital where the driver is recovering. Sadly, the passenger did not survive. Reports indicate that neither truck driver was injured in the collision.
Because of the injuries suffered in the crash, the surviving victim and the family of the deceased victim could file a personal injury claim and a wrongful death claim, respectively. If their individual claims are successful in civil court, they could then be awarded monetary damages that could help pay for medical bills, funeral costs and other financial losses related to the collision. Any Missouri residents injured in car accidents could consult experienced personal injury attorneys to obtain more information and assistance regarding these types of claims.
