Going for a walk should not be a traumatic experience for Missouri families. However, when drivers are negligent, pedestrians could be the ones to suffer. Pedestrian accidents often lead to serious injuries. A young boy and his family are recovering after being struck in a hit and run on the evening of April 10.
The family was crossing the street when the collision occurred. According to witnesses, when the driver of the car made a left turn, the vehicle struck the family. One of the children was not only hit, but also dragged behind the car for some distance. Witnesses claim that the driver never stopped.
All four pedestrians involved in the hit and run were hurt by the impact. Two of the children, ages 2 and 7, were said to be hit by the vehicle, though reports did not indicate the extent of their injuries. The mother only suffered minor injuries and was released from a local hospital after initial treatment. The 4-year-old boy who was dragged by the vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated at a children’s hospital.
Though witnesses provided a description of the car that was allegedly involved in the accident, police have not yet identified the driver. Once the driver is apprehended, the adult victim may file a personal injury lawsuit against the driver. If her lawsuit successfully proves the driver was negligent, she may then receive monetary damages to help cover the cost of medical bills and any other expenses related to the collision. Any Missouri residents injured in pedestrian accidents could contact an experienced personal injury attorney to find out more information about filing personal injury claims.
