Pedestrian accidents: Missouri woman killed in hit and run

Unfortunately for Missouri residents, crossing the street has become as much of a hazard as driving a car. High speeds, distracted driving and other factors can all lead to accidents. Those involved in pedestrian accidents are often seriously injured or even killed. Tragically, this proved true when a Missouri woman lost her life after being struck by a vehicle in a recent hit and run accident.

The victim was crossing the street one morning in St. Louis when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did not stop after the accident. According to police, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. One witness to the incident claimed that the driver was speeding when he or she collided with the victim.

Though the driver left the scene, it did not take long for the police to find the suspect. By that afternoon, the vehicle was recovered a few miles away from the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody. Police have not yet stated what charges the driver might face.

Negligent drivers take the lives of pedestrians all too often. Though nothing can replace lost lives, families who have lost loved ones in pedestrian accidents may seek justice by filing a wrongful death claim. If adequate proof of negligence is provided, a Missouri civil court could then grant financial relief to help contend with end-of-life expenses such as medical bills or funeral costs. Consulting an experienced personal injury lawyer could help families begin this process.
