Severe injuries not uncommon in motorcycle accidents

When motorcycles and automobiles collide, it is not uncommon for the motorcycle riders to suffer severe injuries, which can be fatal. As summertime approaches, motorcycle accidents will likely become more prevalent as more riders take to the roads in warmer weather. The Missouri State Highway Patrol recently reported a collision between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle in Jefferson County.

Initial accident reports indicate that a 53-year-old driver of a car was southbound on Highway PP on a recent Sunday afternoon. She allegedly stopped on the roadway while she was turning left onto another road. At that time, a 48-year-old motorcyclist was northbound on the same highway. When he encountered the car that was partially blocking the highway, he was unable to avoid a collision and smashed into the side of the vehicle.

Although the driver of the car was not injured, the motorcyclist suffered severe injuries. He was rushed to a medical center by ambulance, and his condition was reported to be serious at the time of this report. Authorities said that the driver of the car was restrained by a seatbelt, but they could not confirm whether or not the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.

Injuries suffered in motorcycle accidents are typically severe, and victims may suffer long-term consequences and ongoing medical expenses. Financial aid may be pursued by filing personal injury claims in a Missouri civil court. Before filing such claims, evidence of negligence by other parties must be obtained to support the claims. Successful presentation of the evidence and documented details of financial losses may bring about monetary compensation to ease the financial burden brought about by accident injuries.
