Teenage passenger suffers fatal personal injury in 1-car crash

Traveling as a passenger in a motor vehicle can be life threatening, especially at this time of the year. Many single-vehicle accidents are responsible for passengers suffering serious personal injury or even death. According to an accident report, a Missouri car crash on Jan. 5 claimed the life of one person and occurred in the vicinity of Diamond.

The Missouri Highway Patrol responded to the accident shortly before 8 p.m. A car occupied by a driver and a 15-year-old passenger was reportedly northbound on a local roadway. For unknown reasons, the driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle and left the roadway. After striking a ditch, the car flipped over, causing the pedestrian to be ejected.

The teenager, who was apparently not using a seat belt, died at the accident scene. The driver was restrained and suffered only minor injuries. He or she was taken to the hospital for treatment. An accident investigation will likely determine the reason for the driver’s loss of control.

Losing a child at such a young age is naturally devastating for any family, and coping with the financial consequences of an accident that caused a fatal personal injury can be overwhelming. Financial relief may be pursued by filing a wrongful death lawsuit in a Missouri civil court. Driver negligence must be established before the court will consider the entry of a monetary judgment. Once liability is proved, the court will adjudicate all documented financial and emotional losses claimed by plaintiff/s to have resulted from the tragedy.
